Medical Air
Solutions has developed three (3) CORAD systems for surgical suites.
Each system is designed for the ascending classes as defined in the AIA (2003)
Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Health Care
Facilities. The definitions of these classes are:
Class
A (formerly
Class XX)
"Provides for minor surgical procedures performed under topical,
local or regional anesthesia without pre-operative sedation. Excluded are
intravenous, spinal and epidural routes; these methods are appropriate for
Class B and Class C facilities."
Class B
(formerly Class V)
"Provides for minor or major surgical procedures performed in
conjunction with oral, parenteral or intravenous sedation or under analgesic or
disocclusive drugs."
Class C
(formerly Class I)
"Provides for major surgical procedures that require general or
regional block anesthesia and support of bodily functions."
The CORAD
systems are designed to significantly reduce the threat of secondary (nosocomial)
infections by continuously providing ultra-pure HEPA (99.99%) filtered
air over the sterile field via vertical laminar flow diffusers that provide a
very high volume of air at very low velocity. These systems are a step above
the older linear slot wall diffusers which provide horizontal air flow that can,
by induction, move pathogens from the outer perimeter of the surgical suite into
the air flow area of the sterile field.
All systems
provide for the monitoring of positive pressure in the O.R. which is an absolute
necessity in maintaining a protective environment. Our CORAD systems
incorporate indirect upper room ultraviolet germicidal irradiation that
kills or deactivates pathogens in the upper room atmosphere while not putting
staff or the patient in the direct path of the UV-C.

AS900GC-PP-UV (48 x 24) Certified 99.99% HEPA w/ SS laminar flow
diffuser system with digital controllers. One (1) Room temperature,
pressure, relative humidity touch screen monitor. Air provided will be
by motor-blower fans driven by the two (2) AS900GC units positioned
bilaterally over the surgical table to ensure correct laminar flow CFM
delivery for 15 ACH for a room size of
16x18x9 (2,592 cubic feet).

AS900GC-PP-UV (48 x 24) Certified 99.99% HEPA w/ SS laminar flow
diffuser system with digital controllers. One (1) Room temperature,
pressure, relative humidity touch screen monitor. Air provided will be
by motor-blower fans driven by the two (2) HEPA AS900GC units positioned
bilaterally over the surgical table within the plenum to ensure correct
laminar flow delivery for 15 ACH for a
room size of 18x24x9
(3,888 cubic feet)

w/ SS laminar flow diffuser system with digital controllers. One (1)

provided will be by motor-blower fans driven by the four (4) AS900GC
units positioned bilaterally over the surgical table and at the foot and
head of the surgical table to ensure correct laminar flow CFM delivery
for 25 ACH for a room size of
20x26x9 (4,680 cubic feet). Four (4)
wall mounted UVGI WM136. Each unit covers up to 240 sq. ft.

CORAD B

Consisting of: four (4) AS900GC-PP-UV (48 x 24) and two (2)
AS900GC-PP-UV (24 x 24) Certified 99.99% HEPA w/ SS laminar flow
diffuser system with digital controllers. One (1) Room temperature,
pressure, relative humidity touch screen monitor. Air provided will be
by motor-blower fans driven by the six (6) AS900GC units positioned
bilaterally over the surgical table and the AS500CG units at the foot
and head of the surgical table to ensure correct laminar flow CFM
delivery for 25 ACH for a room size of
24x30x9 (6,480 cubic feet). Four (4)
wall mounted UVGI WM136 units. Each unit covers up to 240 sq. ft.
